Arizona Health & Living Magazine

November 20, 2015 by Linda Reed

Thank you to the editor, Lisa Padilla, at Arizona Health & Living Magazine for listing “Which Fork Do I Use?” under the Holiday Gift section, page 52 of the current issue!

As we all begin to plan for the Thanksgiving get together with family and friends, treat yourself and your guests to a beautiful table. Our book gives you the templates for the meal you choose, whether it is served family style or plated individually, single-course or a five-course dinner.

How do I get that beautiful table? Let’s just talk about a couple of simple changes.  Do you have chargers (the larger than a dinner plate accent piece) that can bring color or drama to your table settings? The retail stores have amazing designs in chargers to pick from, if you shop now. Maybe this year you want a more traditional table. Or, perhaps you want a casual or whimsical table landscape. Even a change in napkins and napkin rings can give your table a new look. Borrow from nature with some freshly fallen maple leaves and write your guest’s names on them for a place card. Pine cones make a great holder for a place card. Both the leaves and the pine cones can be spray painted with sparkly silvers and golds. Don’t get us started. We can go on for days with ideas.

Add a pop of color with glasses

November 19, 2015 by Linda Reed

Fun, festive, classic, whimsical, traditional? What you want your table setting to say about you or the dinner event can be changed up with something as simple as colored beverage glasses. They don’t have to cost a lot (let your budget decide that for you) to add interest and charm. Bright and seasonal table napkins or napkin rings can also take a table setting from simple to simply amazing.

Homemade Bread Day

November 17, 2015 by Linda Reed

Who doesn’t love bread with their dinner? There are simple and practical ways to eat your bread. We’ll share two dining dos and don’ts with you today. Butter spreaders are approximately 6″ long and are often placed on a bread and butter plate as part of your individual place setting. If no butter spreader is provided, use your dinner knife to spread the butter.

  • Do break off a bite-sized piece of bread while it is on the bread plate and butter it. This allows the bread crumbs to fall onto the bread and butter plate and not on the table top.
  • Don’t break it apart or butter it mid-air.

“Frank” brushes up on his manners

October 31, 2015 by Linda Reed

Even monsters need to know “Which Fork Do I Use?” before entertaining guests. Look what Frank found especially helpful on the page 69, aka the Always and Never page.

Always arrive on time, even if you are taking some extra time to scare little kids on your way to the party.

Never eat like a caveman. You are “Frank” after all.

Always use the beverage glasses on your right. And don’t spike your neighbor’s drink just because you need to be nicer. The etiquette police are patrolling tonight.

Never talk about controversial topics at the dinner table such as dissecting body parts.

Pantry to Plate – ChicagoNow Blog

October 29, 2015 by Linda Reed

What a charming blog about “Which Fork Do I Use?” by Barbara Revsine! She really did read between the lines and realized that the side affect of reading the book is that readers may suddenly obsess about such things as cheese knives, napkin rings, and themed dinner parties just like Rosemarie and Linda do. Such fun.

Thank you to The Trina Kaye Organization, public relations consultant, for all the great connections on radio and print media as we move into the holiday season for “Which Fork Do I Use?” book selling and signings! The award-winning book is a great holiday gift for all ages as they learn the basics of setting the table and serving a meal, or planning a special Dickens themed dinner party for friends and family. Perhaps the section on setting up a Buffet will be a favorite. So much more inside the book that makes it a wonderful go-to guide.
